Introduction

We started by developing a software package for a high street solicitor's practice of 6 fee earners and the package has successfully managed their business for the past ten years.
Over a period of time we realised that the biggest restraint on the use of technology by a legal practice is the lack of time and skills to deal with technology, and the related absence of a budget to employ an IT expert even if one could be found who could cover the whole spectrum of requirements. Our aim is to overcome this restraint by providing a transparent and specialist service at a low end cost, thereby allowing the legal practice to enjoy the benefits of increased productivity.

Solution

The emerging legal market has no option but to embrace IT, since the Courts are increasingly dealing with electronic submissions and date booking. The modern customer will be expecting their solicitors to use up to date communication tools and technology in their practice and our role is to support the solicitor in meeting this expectation.
The legal profession has to keep up with the constant changes to the legal process that the regulators enforce upon them. The IT solution that assists the solicitors practice must cope with these regulatory changes and a whole spectrum of requirements on a timely basis. We provide this seamless service and ensure that our customers are kept up to date and compliant with these changes.

DiSoft has been working in IT development and support for over 15 years. The company is based in the UK and provides sales and technical support to its UKLegal customers and consultancy to organisations needing expertise across a wide range of software development issues. In 1999 DiSoft set up a research & development company, DNS Software Technologies based in Pune, India.
One of our principal areas of expertise is to supply a fully integrated solution to the legal market. This consists of up to date software technology, hardware installations and support, communication and secure internet access, backups, archives and data warehousing. These mission critical solutions support the business strategic objectives of our customers. Our mission is to deliver quality solutions with speed.

Whilst advances in technology have their obvious benefits through improved
efficiency and productivity, it can all seem very complex to most users.
However, this need not be the case if technology is exploited keeping the end
user in mind. Our aim at UKLegal is to keep it simple and very user friendly so
that the legal practice does not have to deal with the underlying complexities
of any technology. Our goal at inception was to create a service that would
need just a computer and an internet connection. With UKLegal, one needs just
that. To get started one needs to only have
a) PC with Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 or above and
b) Any word processor including WordPad
c) An Internet connection
How did we manage that?
The UKLegal service is a light weight web application that runs on bare minimum
software as specified above. This gives enormous flexibility to users as they
can access their data from anywhere. The service is highly scalable as it can
accommodate 1-person legal firms as well as firms with thousands of users. The user
can choose to subscribe to as many modules as he or she require and can add or drop additional modules depending on future
requirements. Security is provided through highly secure industry standard
security protocols such as SSL and can be further enhanced through the use of
hardware cards.

The archive management tool allows you to store away all cases that have been
completed and marked as closed. You are only allowed to archive cases with no
pending accounts transactions and requests. This tool helps you to keep your
data in order and file away cases that have been finished. Accounts information
however is still vital and is available at all times. Any archived case can be brought back into the Practice system at any time.
